Valkyria 2011 - Squad 422 by Vielwerth Valkyria 2011 - Squad 422 by Vielwerth
***DOWNLOAD TO SEE DETAILS***

1st of a few pics of Valkyria Chronicles' Squad 422 in the modern day.

Featured here are two shocktroopers of Squad 422. The smart Gallian Blue uniforms used during EWII have long been phased out in preference for camouflaged fatigues. They both carry the most recent issue of the MAGs line of assault rifles.

Squad 422 is still the home of the various misfits the regular army hides away to do the dirty work of the Gallian government, their actions unrecorded, their victories uncelebrated.

The general secrecy of Squad 422 results in a very lax unit, especially in regards to uniform. Individuals often choose whatever gear and clothing they prefer to fight in the most. Hence, no squad member looks identical, apart from the patches that unifies them under the Gallian flag and the 422nd's emblem.

Since their successes in EWII, Squad 422 now takes on anti-Valkyria duties as it's main purpose.

As Ragnite gets scarcer by the year, more emphasis is put into Valkyria research and manufacturing artificial Valkyrur, since they offer the most efficient military use of Ragnite.

Thus the members of Squad 422 fight enemy Valkyria units with exceptionally unconventional, effective tactics. The 422nd fight dirty, and they fight hard.

We like the blue uniforms as well, but the modern day Gallian military would have realised by now that camouflage is a vital part of warfare. (Heck, they started to realise the benefits of camo in VC2, where you could paint your tank several different camo schemes to match the environment). Hence why we felt we could get away with wearing camo!

A lot of comments deride you for not dressing in frivolous mid-1930's cosplay costumes; are they trying to live their cosplay fantasies vicariously? If the haters can't learn to sew and have no idea how to get a team together they are going to do what haters do. Brohoof.

I like to think they hate because they didn't think of having a VC-based airsoft team first.

I quite like it, though I do prefer the EWII period uniforms, had a touch of class about them. I hope you've still got a Darcen on the throne in 2011. Too bad you don't have a group here in Australia, I'd join in a heartbeat... as an officer of course.

Looking back through some of the old comments, and I just re-read this one. We now have a US branch. I can see no reason why we can't have an Aussie branch as well. What do you think?

Next we'll have someone with a camera standing on a box behind one of us to give a "third person view" effect, photoshop in some personalised VC in-game user interfaces (health bars, selected weapon, you know) and BAM!

...
We're gonna need an Imp.

Thanks. The VC series is obviously set in a WW2-like era, so I tried to come up with something plausible for a modern day setting whilst considering and staying within Valkyria canon.
Ragnite must be rare as hell by now.

I think this is more airsoft/military dress up related than it is Valkyria Chronicles related. It doesn't really fit.

Just my opinion.

You're right. It doesn't fit SEGA's VC, because it's not set in the same timeframe the games are (which a reimagining of WW2). Hence the "2011" in the title. We're imagining what Gallian troops may look like in a "modern warfare" setting, which a lot of fans (ourselves included) wanted to see from us.
I would say the mere addition of Gallian flag and 422 patches to these loadouts allow us to relate to Valkyria Chronicles. But just this is the start. The basics.

These aren't strictly cosplays. We're a team of VC fans who play in the gear you see here. And whilst we would like to get our hands on cosplays of Gallian EWII soldiers robust enough to handle the rough and tumble of airsoft (they would have to very robust, we don't plan on going to conventions where a lesser standard is needed), we have neither the time or money (and we're UK based, not exactly the cosplay capital of the world).
So we decided to go down the "modern warfare" route, inspired mostly by the works of :iconkira-tsubasafan:.

As I said, this is just the start. We're deciding what 2011EC Gallian "garrison" dress would look like, we're sourcing "Gallian" blue berets with pin badges of the Gallian crest, finalising a VC-esque class system depicted via "class patches" to go along with the patches in these pics (so when one of us decides to use the team's L96 or Mk23, they'll swap to the sniper and gunner class patches respectively)... and so on. Eventually we'll relate to VC even more, and people will say "this is what Gallian troops would look like the 21st Century EC".

That's what we're aiming for.

i dont think where one comes from.. a cosplay capital of the world or not.. should limit one from doing any cosplay attempts at all.. heck i didnt know there was that stuff at all in my city until i got introduced to it and few years later me and buddies did some VC1 cosplays... we're all from different cities yet meet up and coordinate our group cosplays...
i'm also pretty sure that if people can spend hours going over and prepping thru airsoft gear for matches.. they can spend 1hour every few days or a week to slowly build a cosplay... that's what i do.. on top of my 12 hour work shifts and school... T.T
be warned.. Cosplaying CAN be very addicting lol
i THOUGHT of doing something similair to what you guys have... except i can't find the proper blue-theme camo fabric i want... T.T

I still don't understand how anything from the gallian Military would look like anything from MW2. I guess I would do it differently, but to each their own.

Good luck!
